Saskatchewan Waste Electronic Equipment Program (SWEEP). The new Saskatchewan Waste Electronic Equipment Program (SWEEP) launched in February after years of working with the government, Electronics Product Stewardship Canada and other stakeholders on the development of an industry-led program. As a result of RCC's efforts, retailers have the flexibility to display the Environment Handling Fee associated with the program visibly, as a separate line item on the sales receipt, if retailers choose; there is no mandatory return-to-retail collection associated with the new program; and retailers have two seats on the SWEEP Board of Directors, as well as a non-voting observer status seat held by RCC.

Multi-Material (Blue Box) Program. RCC, along with other industry associations, met with the Saskatchewan Minister of Environment and several senior Ministry offi cials to discuss the proposed multi-material (Blue Box) program for the province and to voice retailers' concerns about the proposed program. RCC has provided written comments on several occasions to the Ministry regarding the program to ensure that it will be viable for retailers.

Saskatchewan Workplace Health and Safety Consultations. RCC represented retailers in consultations regarding proposed changes to Saskatchewan's The Occupational Health and Safety Act, 1993 and related regulations.

Video Game Regulations. When the province decided to adopt new regulations restricting the sale or rental of Mature and Adult-Only video games, RCC provided input on the draft regulations to Ministry of Justice officials. As a result, Saskatchewan's new regulations are consistent with similar regulations in Ontario and Manitoba, and are consistent with RCC's Commitment to Parents voluntary code.
