RCC's Responsible Trade Committee (formerly known as Canadian Retailers Advancing Responsible Trade) is an RCC member-driven committee that brings retailers together to discuss ethical sourcing issues.
Mission
To raise awareness among retailers about ethical sourcing issues and to communicate to Canadian consumers, governments and NGOs what retailers are doing on matters related to responsible trade.
Mandate
- To encourage retailers to adopt responsible trading practices.
- To share information, best practices and to provide tools for retailers to support them in advancing responsible trading practices.
- To communicate the commitment of Canadian retailers to responsible trading initiatives.
- To consult and build alliances with consumer groups, NGOs, academics and other industry partners.
RCC's Responsible Trade Committee participates in discussions on an ongoing basis and regularly hears from experts in the field on responsible trading issues and practices.
