Member Notice: "Doors Closed" Energy Conservation Campaign
Cool the store... and nothing more

July 13, 2006

Update:
On July 13, 2006, the Conservation Council of Ontario launched the second annual Doors Closed campaign. This initiative aims to put an end to the wasteful practice of air conditioning the street on hot summer days. While the campaign was developed in Ontario, the message is universal. Energy conservation is not confined to borders.

RCC is a proud partner of the Doors Closed campaign and encourages all retailers to keep the cool air in by closing all exterior doors and windows to maintain the efficiency of air conditioning systems. While some retailers may keep the door ajar in order to attract customers, you can increase customer satisfaction and loyalty by keeping the door closed and demonstrating that your organization cares about energy efficiency.

Becoming more energy efficient can increase customer and employee satisfaction. It is not only good for the environment; it's good for business and your bottom line.
