The Ontario government recently announced that effective October 1, 2016 minimum wage will increase from $11.25 to $11.40 an increase of 1.3%. The student minimum wage which applies to students under the age of 18 who work 28 hours a week or less when school is in session, or work during a school break or summer holidays changes from $10.55 to $10.70.

The change is consistent with Ontario’s Consumer Price Index (CPI). To view the Ministry of Labour’s announcement click Province Increasing Minimum Wage on October 1.
