2.3 Modernize Inspector Powers
The Plan proposes the ability of Health Canada’s food inspectors to hold, prohibit or restrict the movement of food without having to seize or detain the food. It is important that retailers have the ability to consolidate any affected product(s) in one physical location, moving from one warehouse to another for example, while ensuring that it is not available for sale to consumers until direction is provided or compliance with the Food and Drug Act is confirmed.
