Subject: Effective January 1st WCB-Approved Chiropractors are now full participants in the Tier 1 Service/Return-To-Work Model

Happy New Year!

I wanted to provide you with information regarding WCB’s renewed contract with Chiropractors in Nova Scotia.  Effective January 1st, 2013, WCB-approved chiropractors will become full participants in the Tier 1 service/return-to-work model.  This means chiropractors will be able to provide functional abilities assessments and determine if the worker’s physical abilities match the demands of their pre-injury job, or whether they can perform other transitional duties available in the workplace. Just like physiotherapists, chiropractors will share the results of the functional abilities assessment with employers, family physicians and the WCB. This contract enhancement is good news for injured workers, who will have more options about where they can seek functional abilities assessments.

A list of the WCB-approved chiropractors can be found on our website at: www.wcb.ns.ca under “I Am A Service Provider” then click on “Service Provider Directory” which can be found on the left side of the screen.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Lise Jeffrey | Relationship Manager
