Key wins over the last 3 months include:
- Significant progress has been made with major municipalities in New Brunswick to amend Sunday shopping by-laws to allow retailers to expand opening hours beyond current noon to 5 timeframe. This change will allow retailers to choose how to run their businesses in order to provide service to their customers. For more information click here
- Majority of harmonization activities have focussed on environmental stewardship (recycling) In particular RCC has worked with Canadian Stewardship Service Alliance to secure support for national approach to manage printed paper and recycling programs which will save members administrative burden by eliminating duplicate reporting
Focus for the balance of 2013:
- Advocate for changes in Ontario’s proposed Waste Reduction Act to ensure that it harmonized with other Extended Producer Responsibility programs.
