Presidents' Club Events

CEO Breakfasts
Breakfast events provide PC members with the rare opportunity to attend confidential corporate briefings delivered by prominent retail executives. Sessions take place from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., and include pre-session networking opportunities and a post-session Q & A. PC members receive free admission to four breakfasts each year, along with the opportunity to purchase additional registrations at a discounted rate to a maximum of two additional delegates. Past featured retail CEOs include: Mike Medline (President, Dealer Relations and Diversified Businesses, Canadian Tire Corporation), Larry Rosen (Chairman & Chief Executive Officer, Harry Rosen Inc.), Murray Souter (President, Black Photo Corporation) and Ethel Taylor, (Senior Vice-President, Corporate Store Sales, Sears Canada Inc.).

Greg Hicks joined TSC Stores in July 2006 to lead an ambitious growth agenda; since his arrival, the store base has grown by 66%, and 40% of the chain's traditional stores have been replaced. Ted Starkman joined The Shopping Channel in March 1999 to head up the company's expansion into "Off-Air" Channels including its online retail strategy and its brick and mortar store expansion. He successfully launched the channel's Web business (TheShoppingChannel.com) with a focus from day one on bottom line profitability and permission marketing. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Canadian Marketing Association, Chair of the CMA/Marketing Magazine's Digital Marketing Conference and was Co-chair of the Retail Council of Canada's Electronic Commerce Business Advisory Committee. A lawyer by training, he graduated from the University of Toronto law school, entering private practice serving the multimedia, software and Internet industries, specializing in intellectual property law and commercial matters after graduating.

Joining Toys 'R' Us Canada in May 2000 as Vice President of Finance, Real Estate and Information Technology, after having worked for the Marks & Spencer Group in the U.K. and Canada, Kevin Macnab was named President of Toys 'R' Us Canada in 2007, reporting directly to Ron Boire, President of Toys 'R' Us North America. At Toys R Us, Mr. Macnab has played an instrumental role in developing and executing strategies to support the implementation of new store concepts in Canada.

He has 25 years of business experience in the retail and finance sectors, having served in key roles at PricewaterhouseCoopers, Marks & Spencers and D'Allaird's Stores. In the retail industry his experience encompasses clothing, foods, toiletries, gifts, baby and toys.


Presidents' Club Golf Tournament

The best business connections are made on the golf course! For this reason, RCC hosts its annual Presidents' Club Golf Tournament each spring. Each foursome is made up of Presidents' Club members and senior executives from mid-size and large retail companies. This exclusive event, attended by approximately 20 to 40 golfers, includes breakfast, a day on the golf course, a networking reception, lunch and an award presentation.

Retail Conditions Report Briefings
RCC surveys its retail members to evaluate current retail conditions and uses the results to produce an exclusive members-only report that provides up-to-date information about retail sales, customer behaviour, margins and inventories. Report briefings provide PC members with the opportunity to hear first-hand what retailers have said about current retail conditions and what that will mean to the industry in the next quarter. The presentation includes a review of the survey results, from RCC's research team and an extensive post-session Q & A.

STORE — Canada's Retail Conference
For 45 years, STORE — Canada's Retail Conference, has been the must-attend event of the year for retailers across Canada. More than 800 retail executives, suppliers and vendors attend the two-day annual event, which takes place on the first Monday and Tuesday of June in Toronto.

Presidents' Club members receive a complimentary registration to STORE.
