This yearlong initiative driven by Retail Council of Canada and Scotiabank Small Business will discover — and recommend solutions for — the challenges affecting Canada's independent retailers in urban and rural communities.

Toronto, May 16, 2008 – The future of retail is in good hands, as 26 high school and post-secondary students from across the country will each receive a $1,000 scholarship to assist in their pursuit of retail as a career. Retail Council of Canada (RCC), in partnership with sponsoring retail organizations, will award the scholarships at the Canadian Retail Hall of Fame Luncheon June 3 at STORE 2008 — Canada's Retail Conference.

Dr. Comrie was nominated and selected by a distinguished panel of current and former retail executives, as well as representatives from the financial, academic and consulting communities.

Toronto, May 15, 2008 – Retail Council of Canada (RCC) is pleased to present Laurence Lewin, President and Chief Operating Officer of La Senza, with the coveted 2008 Distinguished Canadian Retailer of the Year award to recognize his role as a leader in the retail industry. Nominations were received from across Canada and the final selection was determined by a distinguished panel of current and former retail executives.
