Entertainment Merchants Association (EMA)

About EMA
The Entertainment Merchants Association (EMA) — the trade organization for the video industry — is now a division of Retail Council of Canada (RCC), a not-for-profit association representing more than 40,000 stores of all retail formats, including independent merchants, regional and national mass and specialty chains, and online merchants.

> Commitment To Parents

Our mission is to:

  • Save our members money by lowering the cost of doing business;
  • Improve retail skills and practices through certification training and informative educational opportunities;
  • Represent video retailers' interests (such as taxation, employment, copyright, video pirating, etc.) with the federal and provincial governments; and,
  • Provide outstanding publications and communications for the retail and video industry.

Benefits of Membership
Here are a few of the key benefits of membership for independent video retailers in Canada:

1. Cost-Savings Programs
Membership with RCC saves members money! RCC uses its group buying power to partner with leading business service providers to provide valuable programs at a discounted price.

2. Education Tools
Members can access RCC's MasterCard Resource Centre, which provides valuable Tip Sheets to help you run your store. From theft prevention, to customer loyalty to signing a lease — RCC has the resources to help you.

3. Conferences & Events
RCC runs a number of events across Canada for retailers, including regional workshops for owners and store managers on recruiting, conferences for HR issues and loss prevention, and STORE 2007 — Canada's Retail Conference.

4. Lobbying & Advocacy
RCC's government relations team look out for the interests of retailers across Canada, at all levels of government. When an issue will affect the footwear sector such as safeguards, import tariffs, etc., RCC is there to fight for retailer's rights.

NETWORK
EMA offers you the opportunity to network with other retailers, studios and distributors at RCC's Annual Conference, held in Toronto, or at EMA's Annual Convention and Exhibition — the world's largest home entertainment event, held in Las Vegas. You can also get together with your peers at smaller local venues planned across the country.
