Retail Council of Canada Launches eTill
A Complete Point-of-Sale and Operations Bundle for Canada's Small Retailers
Toronto, June 4, 2007 – Retail Council of Canada (RCC) and a group of leading technology, financial and software partners today announced the launch of eTill — a comprehensive point-of-sale (POS) and operations system designed to help Canada's small, independent retailers compete in today's complex marketplace.
RCC has partnered with leading organizations such as Scotiabank, Rogers Business Solutions, Chase Paymentech, IBM, Multipost Retail Systems and Windward Software to create a system that allows merchants to save time, grow their business, meet customer demand and differentiate themselves from the competition — all by using the latest technology.
"With an ever-changing consumer and an increasingly competitive market, Canada's independent retailers are constantly challenged by prohibitive technology costs, lack of affordable turnkey systems and the speed and overwhelming scope of technological options," says Diane J. Brisebois, President and CEO, Retail Council of Canada. "RCC and its partners created eTill to save these retailers time and money, thus enabling them to focus on their customers and run their businesses successfully."
"I was extremely pleased when RCC invited me to officially launch this new product," said James Rajotte, Federal MP for Edmonton Leduc and Chair of the Industry Committee. "The success and efficiency of small businesses is essential to Canada's economic prosperity. I am very impressed that larger players are coming together to enable the success of smaller entrepreneurs. Their initiative is an example for other industries to follow."
eTill contains products and services created specifically for the small retailer to manage their core business operations, including Rogers Business Solutions' Internet connectivity, Scotiabank's financial solutions, Chase Paymentech's payment processing, IBM's POS hardware, and Multipost Retail Systems' and Windward Software's category-specific POS software. While eTill is bundled with core products and services, the system can be customized and is designed to be scalable as an independent retailer's needs change. eTill partners will also provide training and customer support services.
Brisebois adds, "eTill is a great example of larger business coming together to create an innovative business solution to help small retailers compete and succeed. eTill's product and software providers are leaders in their respective fields and have bundled everything an independent merchant needs, combined with the benefits of RCC's retail resources, tools and training materials."
