WorkSafeBC considers changes to first aid requirements

May 10, 2022

WorkSafeBC is proposing changes that alter the responsibilities of the employer in providing the “equipment, supplies, facilities, first aid attendants and services required” for first aid.

It also stipulates that the required assessment on additional supplies and services needed in their particular workplace must be a) in writing and b) updated either within 12 months of the previous assessment when a significant change that could affect the assessment occurs. The proposed amendment would also require employers to hold drills on first aid procedures at least once a year and whenever those procedures change, to ensure effectiveness.

RCC will participate in upcoming consultations ending June 24, 2022.
