Fuel surcharge increase for Marine Atlantic 

Beginning June 1, 2023, Marine Atlantic’s fuel surcharge will increase from 13% to 17% of the crown corporation’s average cost of fuel. This is not a surprise given the increased costs of fuel.

Pre-pandemic, Marine Atlantic completed its changeover to burning cleaner and more expensive fuel in its vessels. As society has returned to many of its pre-pandemic practices, demand for fuel has increased and prices have increased.
