B.C. Government Stands by Health Cost Recovery Bill Amid Growing Business Opposition
April 10, 2024The coalition against the B.C. government’s new legislation is expanding, with more business associations joining. The bill, criticized for its broad scope covering all products, byproducts, and services including marketing, promotion and distribution, as well as manufacturing, was debated in the second reading amidst concerns from the business community. The government’s focus on social media’s negative impacts has ignored business concern that the broad legislation impacts all products and services provided to residents of B.C. RCC is leading the charge, engaging with government officials and MLAs to voice these concerns, emphasizing the potential negative impact on future investment in B.C. RCC promises to keep members updated on the bill’s fast-tracked progress. Contact Greg Wilson, Director, Government Relations (B.C.) at gwilson@retailcouncil.org for more information.
