BC NDP Appears to be Narrowly Re-Elected
October 22, 2024The B.C. New Democratic Party government led by Premier David Eby appears to have been re-elected by a one seat margin. The NDP won 46 of the 93 seats — one seat short of a majority. To govern, the NDP would need to rely on the support of 2 Green Party MLAs. Conservatives won the vast majority of the seats in the B.C. Interior and Fraser Valley. The Conservatives have won a number of very close contests in the City of Surrey which denied the NDP another majority.
Counts will be finalized in the next two days, and then there will be recounts in 1 to 4 constituencies to determine the final seat count. RCC will monitor the upcoming formation of the government and update members as appropriate.
