Bill 29: Share Your Feedback on Quebec’s New Consumer Protection

January 28, 2025

The government is introducing new regulations under Bill 29, The Act to Fight Planned Obsolescence and Promote Product Durability. The draft regulations provide further details on key obligations, including:

  • Disclosure Requirements: Retailers must inform consumers about spare parts and repair services.
  • Repair Tools Access: Consumers must have access to commonly available tools for maintenance.
  • Banned Practices: Restrictions that hinder repairs will not be permitted.

RCC is gathering industry input to help shape these regulations. Share your thoughts by February 18, 2025.
