Saskatchewan minimum wage to increase to $15-an-hour by 2024
May 10, 2022In an announcement divergent from previous government statements, and a surprise to business sector associations including RCC, the government of Saskatchewan has announced plans to raise its provincial minimum wage to $15.00 an hour by 2024.
On October 1, 2022, the provincial minimum wage will increase from $11.81 to $13.00 per hour as part of a three-step increase to $15.00. It will then be increased to $14 per hour on October 1, 2023, followed by an increase on October 1, 2024, to $15 per hour.
This will represent a 27% increase to the minimum over 29 months. The province has alluded to a plan to return to using the province’s traditional indexation formula after 2024.
