Miramichi Embraces Retailer Choice for Sunday Hours

Attention retailers in Miramichi: Following months of persistent advocacy and stakeholder engagement by RCC, the City of Miramichi finally passed a bylaw (Bylaw 74-1) which will allow retailers to choose the Sunday hours of operation that work best for their businesses. The bylaw comes into force immediately. Miramichi was the last city in New Brunswick with mandated Sunday retail hours. See City of Miramichi Press Release. 

At the beginning of 2024, there were three municipal governments in New Brunswick that still restricted retailer choice in Sunday hours of operation.  RCC is pleased that through its efforts, these three municipal governments have all amended their bylaws.
