Quebec government adopts French language Bill 96

May 25, 2022

Bill 96, to update and strengthen the charter of the French language, was adopted Tuesday, May 24, 2022, by the Quebec National Assembly. The unanimity of the first weeks following the unveiling in 2021 faded as the debates progressed. Of the five parties represented in parliament, two voted in favour, three against. As the government had a majority, the bill was adopted.

RCC actively participated in the consultations and kept an open discussion with the government, especially in order to reduce the administrative impacts of the upcoming changes, most of which will be applied over a three-year horizon.
