Multiple Port Strikes Have Begun: Montreal, US East and Gulf Ports

Montreal
As of Monday, September 30, 2024 at 7:00am the Viau and Maisonneuve Termont Terminals at the Port of Montreal are on a 3-day strike that will not end until 7:00am on Thursday, October 3, 2024. The Termont Terminals move a significant portion of containerized goods for the port. RCC is working with government and business partners to urge an immediate resolution. U.S. East and Gulf Ports
Dockworkers have gone on strike indefinitely at ports across much of the US, threatening significant trade and economic disruption.
Vancouver
The strike by grain terminal workers at the Port of Vancouver ended over the weekend as the parties reached a tentative agreement. This agreement is expected to be ratified this Friday. Grain operations at the port have resumed in the meantime.
