US East Coast Gulf Ports at Risk of Strike

September 24, 2024

Attention retailers, importers, and supply chain managers: Across the border, the International Longshoremen’s Union is in negotiations with the United States Maritime Alliance for 45,000 longshore workers across 36 ports. With the current agreement expiring on September 30, 2024, a strike could begin as early as October 1, 2024, impacting major American ports, including: Port of New York and New Jersey, Port of Philadelphia, Port of Baltimore, Port of Virginia, Port of Wilmington, Port of Charleston, Port of Savannah, Port of Jacksonville, Port of Palm Beach, Port Everglades, Port of Miami, Port of Mobile, Port of New Orleans, and Port of Houston. The U.S. government is actively involved, and RCC is collaborating with U.S. counterparts to minimize disruption.
