California’s Groundbreaking Textile Law: Big Changes Ahead

September 10, 2024

Attention retailers in textiles and apparel: California is set to make history with a groundbreaking Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) program for textiles, with key decisions expected by September 30, 2024. If enacted, CalRecycle will develop regulations by 2028, and by 2030, producers must submit a plan for textile collection, repair, and recycling. The law will also extend to online marketplaces with over $1 million in sales and address PFAS management. These changes could reshape the industry—stay tuned for RCC’s updates on this critical development.
