EPR status for printed paper and packaging

Over the last few years, there has been significant movement on extended producer responsibility (EPR) files across the country, including regulations and programs for the collection and management of printed paper and packaging (PPP). As of 2020, stewardship program costs in Canada were approximately $535 million dollars and this is expected to increase to $1.5 billion by 2025.

To help members keep track of the rapidly evolving EPR landscape for PPP, we have prepared the following provincial updates. Please contact Kelsey Morden if you have any questions.

For all stewardship advocacy, RCC follows 11 guiding principles, including harmonization, fee predictability/stability, and a level-playing field for all producers.
