Letter to Prime Minister Carney on Retail Industry Priorities

Through #VoteRetail, we elevated the key issues facing Canadian retailers during #Election2025. Following the results, RCC has written to the new Prime Minister to both congratulate him and reinforce our commitment to collaborating on solutions that support Canada’s economy and our sector.

Our top five priorities:

1. End the Tariff War – Resolve trade disputes to stabilize supply chains and reduce costs.
2. Combat Organized Retail Crime – Implement measures to protect businesses and communities.
3. Reduce Operating Costs – Address high fees and regulatory burdens impacting retailers.
4. Ensure Competitive Equity – Level the playing field across all retail platforms.
5. Stimulate Retail Activity – Introduce programs to boost investment and consumer spending.
