Manitoba capacity increased to 50% effective March 5, 2021
March 2, 2021The Manitoba government has announced that they will be continuing to move forward with slowly reopening the province, including increasing maximum retail and mall capacity from 25% to 50% of fire code, effective Friday, March 5, 2021.
The arbitrary maximum of 250 customers remains in place for now, and RCC will continue to advocate for its removal so as to align with the simplified approach of all other provinces, of adjusting capacity to store size.
Stores are reminded to maintain strict adherence to all safety requirements and have been encouraged to continue to promote online shopping, curbside pickup and delivery, as strategies to support greater social distancing.
Other Announcements:
- All types of business will be able to operate with the exception of indoor theatres, indoor concert halls, casinos and bingo halls;
- Restaurants and licensed premises move to an increased capacity of 50% (same household only requirement for tables);
- Day camps for children will be able to operate at 25% capacity; and
- Indoor recreation and sporting can open at 25% total capacity.
Future phases:
The new Health Order will be in place until March 26, 2021.
