EnAbling Retail – Accessibility Program

RCC's EnAbling Retail Program is a webinar series with resources designed to educate and support human resources managers, retail operations leaders and owners in achieving compliance with the Employment Standard under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act. The standard sets a legal requirement for Ontario businesses and organizations to foster accessible recruitment, selection and accommodation practices to support employees with disabilities.

Retail Council of Canada (RCC) is working to support retailers in Ontario as they meet their requirements under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and the 2017 accessibility compliance reporting requirement.

If you are a retailer with 20 or more employees, the deadline to file your Accessibility Compliance Report is December 31, 2017.

2015 EnAbling Retail Webinar Series

Webinars will build on one another and focus on a specific portion of Employment Standard requirements. This includes:

  • Creating an inclusive workplace for employees with disabilities
  • Communicating the availability of accommodations during the recruitment process
  • Providing accommodations for employees with disabilities
  • Re-integration of employees that have incurred a permanent or temporary disabilities outside the course of their employment, and
  • Identifying practices to manage the performance, development and career advancement of employees with disabilities

These webinars will benefit employers throughout Ontario by providing:

  • Free training to help your organization understand what's expected of retailers operating in Ontario and how to comply with the Employment Standard under the AODA
  • Tools and resources to improve your recruitment practices and return on employee investment
  • Practices and expertise to help your business avoid compliance orders or penalties
  • A network of industry colleagues to share insights into key issues.
