Minimum wage rises to $16.05-an-hour on September 1, 2023

In 2022 the government of the Northwest Territories announced it was changing the way it calculated adjustments the territory’s minimum wage.  On September 1, 2023, the minimum wage in the Northwest Territories will increase to $16.05 per hour, climbing from $15.20-an-hour.

September 1, 2023 will also see the minimum wage adjusted annually using a formula based on the percentage change in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for Yellowknife and the percentage change in the average hourly wage (AHW) in the NWT for the preceding calendar year. View more information.
