Manitoba minimum wage discussions following Saskatchewan announcement

May 10, 2022

RCC has renewed discussions with the Manitoba government to determine what impact Saskatchewan’s minimum wage announcement could have on the province’s expressed commitment to tying minimum wage increased to provincial CPI. Recently the province announced plans to raise the minimum rate from $11.95 to $12.35, a 40-cent increase as of October 1, 2022.

Business organizations, including RCC were disappointed with the absence of consultation in Saskatchewan, and are looking to the government consider minimum wage within a broader conversation that includes provincial tax rates and the basic personal exemption rate that could have more meaningful impact, and are dramatically behind other prairie provinces.
