New Brunswick Liberals Win Majority Government

October 22, 2024

Despite months of polling that predicted a close race, the Liberal Party secured a majority government in New Brunswick’s provincial election on October 21, 2024. Liberal Leader Susan Holt will become the next Premier of New Brunswick and first woman to be elected to the province’s top job. The Liberal campaign focused on healthcare and housing which resonated with voters. With 49 seats up for grabs, the Liberals increased their seat total from 16 to 31, the incumbent PC Party fell from 25 to 16 seats, while the Green Party fell from 3 seats to only 2. In perhaps the biggest surprise of the night, former PC Premier, Blaine Higgs lost his own seat.  RCC will be reaching out to the new Liberal government, once a cabinet is constituted to ensure retail issues remain at the forefront of government decisions.
