New Premier Designate for Newfoundland and Labrador

On May 3, 2025, the Liberal Party of Newfoundland and Labrador elected John Hogan as its new leader.  The Liberal Party serves as the current provincial government thus, Mr. Hogan was sworn in as the new Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador.  Premier Hogan was first elected as a Member of the House of Assembly in 2021 and has previously served as Minister of Justice and Public Safety.  Premier Hogan is replacing Andrew Furey, who announced in February that he would be stepping down once his successor was chosen.

Premier Hogan’s cabinet features many experienced Ministers.  This is important given that the Premier must call a provincial election on or before October 14, 2025.  RCC will be reaching out to the new Premier and cabinet on issues of importance to RCC members.
