Nova Scotia to Cut HST to Lowest in Atlantic Canada by April 2025

December 17, 2024

Starting April 1, 2025, Nova Scotia will reduce the provincial portion of its Harmonized Sales Tax (HST) by 1%, lowering the total HST to 14%—the lowest in Atlantic Canada. This move, fulfilling a key election promise from the re-elected PC government, comes alongside plans to index personal income tax brackets and credits starting January 1, 2025. As one of Canada’s historically high-tax provinces, these changes signal welcome relief for Nova Scotians. Read the press release.
