PEI Political Shake-Up: King Steps Down, Rob Lantz Takes the Helm
February 25, 2025A few days ago, PEI witnessed a surprising change. On February 20, 2025, Premier Dennis King resigned as Premier, PC Party Leader, and MLA—after six years at the helm and thoughtful family discussions since Christmas. Despite his popularity, King felt it was time to pass the baton to someone who could take the province further. Hon. Rob Lantz, PEI’s Minister of Education and Early Years, has been named Interim Premier and Interim PC Party Leader. It remains unclear if the legislature will reconvene today, Tuesday February 25, 2025.
