Pharmacists Can Now Assess Uncomplicated UTIs For All Age Groups
April 30, 2024Attention retailers with pharmacies in PEI: Pharmacists in PEI can now do an assessment and prescribe treatment for uncomplicated urinary tract infections (UTIs) for people of any age. This is a testament to the success of the program which has been running since 2020. Over the past four years, Island pharmacists were limited to only making such assessments for Islanders who were 19 years of age or older. This is another step in allowing pharmacists to conduct more assessments and thus, alleviate the backlog for Islanders trying to schedule appointments with doctors and nurse practitioners.
