Province Targets PFAS Manufacturers in Class Action over Drinking Water Contamination Costs
June 25, 2024Attention legal counsels: The Province of British Columbia has filed a class action proceeding in British Columbia Supreme Court to target manufacturers of perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) for the costs of detecting and removing the ‘forever chemicals’ from drinking-water systems across the country. B.C. has taken similar actions in recent years against tobacco and opiate manufacturers to recover health-care costs associated with those substances. RCC will keep members informed on the issue.
