British Columbia COVID-19 measures

Update May 6: On May 6th, the Premier announced plans to gradually relax some restrictions in British Columbia. The province signalled that retail stores which voluntarily closed could re-open in mid-May. 2 metres between individuals must be maintained at all times, except in situations where there are physical barriers (plexiglass shields) or other administrative measures are taken. WorkSafeBC is responsible for inspecting workplaces to ensure they are COVID-19-compliant, e.g. having and operating under a COVID-19 operational plan, consistent with government guidelines, would be an expectation of a visiting inspection. The Province is working to update existing guidance for retail stores.

Supply Chain

All local bylaws that restrict goods delivery at any time of day have been suspended.

A new Provincial Supply Chain Coordination Unit was established to coordinate goods and services distribution. Retailers of essential goods are required to report supply volumes to the Province on a weekly basis.

The secondary resale of food, medical supplies, personal protective equipment, cleaning and other essential supplies is banned; and the order allows the Province to limit quantities of some items purchased at point of sale.
