Quebec’s New Draft Regulations on Obsolescence

August 27, 2024

Attention Quebec retailers who sell hard goods: The Quebec government has released two draft regulations under the new Act to Protect Consumers Against Programmed Obsolescence, following the swift adoption of Bill 29 in October 2023. These drafts focus on penalties and fines. As the first of six regulations, this phase allows for public consultation and recommendations from the industry. RCC requests your input by September 16, 2024. We’ll also be organizing a member meeting in the next few weeks to discuss these regulations. For questions or to share your feedback, contact Apraham Niziblian, Director of Public Affairs and Government Relations (Quebec), at ANiziblian@cccd-rcc.org.
