July 20, 2021
On Sunday, July 18, 2021, Nova Scotia Premier, Iain Rankin received permission from the Lieutenant Governor to call a provincial election on Tuesday, August 17, 2021. In support of retailers, RCC has launched its own Vote Retail campaign and sent a questionnaire to each of the main political parties to ascertain their positions on issues of importance to the retail sector. RCC continues to push for the next Nova Scotia government to hold the line on taxes, conduct a review of the various fees paid by retailers, work with RCC to develop a retail strategy, seek regional harmonization with environmental initiatives, ensure foreign eCommerce sellers pay their fair share of taxes and eco-fees, and allow the sale of certain alcoholic beverages in retail stores.
