RCC Advocates for Retailers in Global Plastics Treaty Talks

August 13, 2024

Attention retailers who sell products that contain or are packaged in plastic: On August 6, 2024, RCC joined Environment and Climate Change Canada’s (ECCC) consultation with Parliamentary Secretary Julie Dabrusin, as a follow-up to the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee (INC-4) sessions earlier this year, pushing for practical, evidence-based solutions in the upcoming global plastics treaty. RCC emphasized the need for clear criteria on chemicals, a phased approach to plastic alternatives, and scalable funding to protect both businesses and consumers. As treaty negotiations continue in Thailand later this month, RCC is committed to ensuring retailers’ voices are heard.
