RCC provides comments to Finance Committee on 2021 Budget
May 27, 2021
RCC Senior VP of Public Affairs Karl Littler addressed the federal Finance Committee last week and provided a retail perspective on the 2021 Budget. He highlighted several key issues, including the hidden costs borne by both retailers and Canadian consumers such as skyrocketing credit card acceptance costs and the $4.5 billion annually put towards customs duties. He also called for the government to revisit its 2007 decision to eliminate the Visitor Rebate Program, which would help draw more high-spend tourists to Canada.
