Saskatchewan budget offers limited retail recovery support
April 8, 2021Saskatchewan unveiled its 2021-22 budget on Tuesday, confirming its intentions to run deficits until at least 2026-27 as it supports the ongoing costs of COVID-19 recovery.
The budget was generally absent of tax hikes or spending cuts. However, retailers will benefit from the extension of the 10% discount on SaskPower bills for another year, and can expect to see a SGI auto insurance rebate cheque in May of on average about $285.
The province has also announced a new 20% tax on the retail price of all vaping liquids, devices, and products beginning September 1, 2021.
