Short Lived Strikes End But Uncertainty Remains at Ports

October 8, 2024

Last week labour disruptions took place at the Port of Montreal and the U.S. East and Gulf coast ports, with both situations resolved by the end of the week. Port officials in Montreal report that the backlog is being processed as quickly as possible and cargo flows should return to normal soon. Members should note, however, that in both the Montreal and US cases, and in Vancouver, labour negotiations continue and further disruptions are possible. RCC will continue to keep members updated as the situation continues to evolve.
