Upcoming Amendments to the Products Containing Mercury Regulations
March 25, 2025The Products Containing Mercury Regulations (the Regulations) prohibit the import and manufacture of all products containing mercury with some exemptions and were amended to fulfil Canada’s international commitments and accelerate the transition to mercury-free products.
For anyone who sells lamps containing mercury, the main requirement is to stop the import/manufacture of the most common types of lamps used for general lighting before January 1, 2026, and the sale of the same by January 1, 2030.
