Updated Guidance for 2025 Supply Chains Act (Bill S-211) Reporting

November 19, 2024

Public Safety has published updated Guidance for the Supply Chains Act, Canada’s new forced labour and child labour reporting law. This revised Guidance reflects some of the recommendations for improvement that RCC made earlier this fall.  A summary of the biggest changes is available here;  RCC is currently reviewing the updated Guidance in more detail.

Thanks to RCC advocacy, this version clarifies reporting obligations for members with franchise or co-op structures, or those not producing or importing goods. As per the Guidance, “Entities solely involved in distributing and selling are not expected to report under the Act. Public Safety Canada will not seek enforcement action in those instances.”

Public Safety will hold stakeholder information sessions in early 2025.
