US Pulls Back on Climate Disclosure—States Step Up New Emission Rules
March 4, 2025The US government is no longer moving forward with proposed SEC (Securities and Exchange Commission) rules that would have required companies to disclose climate-related data, including Scope 1 and 2 emissions. Instead, individual states are stepping up. New York, New Jersey, Colorado, and Illinois are introducing their own laws requiring large businesses to report greenhouse gas emissions.
