Warning: Hand sanitizers in beverage containers could lead to accidental poisoning

Health Canada is reminding retailers to exercise caution around selling hand sanitizers in beverage containers. Recent data shows there continues to be a three-fold increase of monthly calls to Canadian Poison Control Centres due to hand sanitizer ingestion compared to 2019. Any hand sanitizers being sold in beverage containers must meet current policy requirements, including a front-of-pack warning, and the use of an acceptable closure.
