Over the last five years Canada’s population growth has been on a roller-coaster ride. Behind the ups and downs of growth were trends in both international and internal migration. This presentation by Dr. Doug Norris will first look at recent population growth at the national and regional levels. Then, there will be a more in-depth look at both international and internal migration and how they combine to explain the recent population growth patterns. Finally, there will be a brief discussion of what might lie ahead in view of recent changes in the Federal government’s policies on international migration.
