RCC advocates for stabilizing Canada’s food supply

May 8, 2020

Jason McLinton, RCC’s Vice President, Grocery Division and Regulatory Affairs, presented to the House of Commons’ Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food today where he provided a retail perspective of Canada’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic, specific to supply chains.  Jason informed the Committee that RCC has worked closely with Canadian producer, processor and importer groups throughout the crisis to adapt to changing consumer behaviours and demands.  He also called for further efforts from the government to respond to longer term implications for all food sectors including food producers, processors, importers, freight and transportation operators and retailers.  Finally, he called for proactive measures to allow for greater sourcing flexibility.
