Speakers:

Patrick Blanchette, Vice-President, Core Operations

Maxi

Patrick Blanchette is an experienced retail manager who has always worked in the food industry.

He began his career at Loblaw as a grocery clerk and quickly climbed the company ladder. With his career skyrocketing, he worked his way up into successively more senior roles, including as Store Manager for Maxi, Head Grocery and GM Specialist, District Manager and then Group Director.  In 2018, Blanchette was appointed Vice-President, Operations, for the Maxi banner and became an important part of Loblaw’s discount division management team.  Blanchette is a positive and supportive leader who unites his team members.

Blanchette is also very involved in the community, supporting several causes close to his heart, and sits on the Board of Directors for Les Paniers de Noël de Suzie, which helps vulnerable families in several regions across Quebec.

Steve Lamontagne, Group Director, Store Operations

Provigo

Driven by his great passion for the food industry, he has worked in the sector for 30 years and held managerial roles with both vendors and retailers alike.

Sixteen years ago, Steve Lamontagne joined Loblaw Companies Limited as CMO Director. In 2007, his career led him to take on the challenge of becoming District Manager. This saw Lamontagne return to his roots—to a close working relationship between retailer and customer.

In 2014, he was appointed Group Director for the Provigo banner, overseeing store operations for franchised stores across Quebec. As part of this unique role, he is involved in implementing standards, national programs, and most importantly, coaching, to help stores improve the efficiency and profitability of their operations. Recently, in 2020, Lamontagne also began managing operations across Provigo’s corporate stores.

Lamontagne is a member of the Association des détaillants en alimentation, the only organization in Quebec run by retailers for retailers. Its goal is to represent and promote the professional, sociopolitical and economic interests of some 8000 owner-food retailers in Quebec.

In 2014, Lamontagne successfully completed the Business Administration program at York University’s Schulich School of Business.
