Health Canada sheds new light on updated Corded Window Covering Regulations

December 22, 2020

Based on RCC’s request, Health Canada published supplemental guidance photos for its Corded Window Coverings Test Method (M22) last week to help retailers, test labs, and manufacturers better understand Health Canada’s testing requirements for its new Corded Window Coverings Regulations: SOR/2019-97 (CWCR).

Originally, these new regulations are set to come into force on May 1, 2021. However, due to the pandemic and significant delays in implementing the required changes at manufacturing, RCC advocated for a 12-month postponement with the coming into force date.

Now, for the first year after the CWCR comes into force, Health Canada will focus its efforts on education and promoting awareness of and compliance with the new regulations.
