CPMA is pleased to announce that CFIA will participate in a webinar to provide information and answer industry questions relative to compliance with the Safe Food for Canadians Regulations (SFCR) on traceability; in particular, those related to lot codes on consumer prepackaged fresh fruit and vegetables.

With the January 15th compliance date fast approaching, industry is focused on preparing for compliance where COVID-related impacts have not made this impossible. (As a reminder, additional flexibility relative to the compliance date is available for those whose inability to be compliant is a direct result of these impacts.)

In an industry as diverse as the fresh produce sector, implementation of the regulations varies in complexity from commodity to commodity and across the various types of consumer packaging resulting in multiple questions that CPMA’s team has been focused on answering over the past months; often with input from CFIA. This webinar will focus on the top questions received and offer the opportunity to pose additional questions during the webinar.

Industry is reminded of the Traceability Compliance Guidance document created by industry with the support of CFIA, and of the many resources available on the CFIA website.
